Arons en Gelauff architects
Floor Arons (1968) and Arnoud Gelauff (1963) founded Arons en Gelauff architects in 1996. The office currently employs a staff of 15 professionals.
Our firm focusses on the design of large scale housing projects, with a specialization on housing and care for senior citizens.
In our designs we create beautiful and very specific architectures from seemingly ordinary briefs and programs. We thoroughly analyse the questions of site, brief and budget and answer these with a daring and appealing concept. We carefully design basic elements, such as dwelling units, and arrange them playfully to fit within the concept. With this ‘joy in repetition’ we manage to create unique projects.
Our buildings are pleasurable and sustainable architectures, that are equally appreciated by the general public as well as by the professionals in the architectural field. Signature projects are a residential care complex in Rotterdam, a high-rise apartment building for seniors in Groningen, an animal rescue centre in Amsterdam and student dwellings for the Twente University.
In 2013 construction of our award winning design for ‘Pontsteiger’ will start; an eye-catching high-rise condominium project for 350 apartments that forms an island in the water of the river IJ in Amsterdam.
We are especially proud to be invited to lend our expertise abroad, advising British government and American scholars on senior housing, and contributing to the challenges that China is facing in the realm of affordable housing.
